Brand Yourself
A young mother visiting Mahatma Gandhi lamented that she was trying so hard to stop her son from eating too many sweets and sugar. As a single mother, she was extremely worried about the side effects of taking sugar that could harm her health. Looking at his dignity, he asked Gandhi if he could talk to his son about his sugar diet in the hope that the older man's words would encourage the younger boy to stop eating sugar. She was surprised when Gandhi said to her: Come back in three months, because I need to get ready to talk to the boy about his sugar diet.
It aroused the curiosity of people living in the community and in the wider community, and many wondered why she needed three months to prepare for the job.
Various rumors spread and everyone interpreted and guessed the reasons for such an act.
Three months later, in front of a large crowd, Gandhi sat next to the boy and simply explained to him that sugar was not good for his health, and that he would be bigger, stronger and healthier if he ate little or no. The boy agreed to start the sugar-free journey and from then on continued to cut down on sweets and eventually stopped eating them altogether. Surprised, the woman thanked Gandhi for her intelligence, compassion, and words and asked why she needed three months to prepare this simple message. Gandhi replied in earnest: "The reputation itself is not enough. On your visit two weeks ago, I was also eating sugar." He further explained that he would not have spoken or taught the little boy not to eat sugar if he himself had not taken that trip.
Imagine waking up in the morning and in the daily newspapers, in the stock exchange quotes column, find and general news with your name. Indeed, your name is like a share in the stock market.
Now ask yourself, how many people would you want, not to use the word "buy" to describe what may not be enough, your share, what you mean, at what price, at what rate and why?
This is exactly what we are talking about when it comes to your personality. There are many product descriptions. Basically, a personal symbol matches your dignity. It shows how other people see you.
Each of us is a symbol, whether you know it or not.
The easiest way to find your product is to play a meet game. Write your name on a piece of paper. Then, without thinking, write down three words that prompt your organization:
Look at all three organizations and circle one word, only one word that you believe people will call as soon as they hear the word.
Then, ask, without associating organizations with them, a wide range of friends, family members, neighbors, professionals, supervisors, coworkers, etc., to do the same and give you or, preferably in the mailbox, anonymously, so that they can remain faithful to the end. to you, I was not afraid that you might get angry or misinterpret the things they wrote.
Always remember that the answer is a champion breakfast.
Review the entire organization and compare it with your own. Pay close attention to who you and others are.
That way, "Your product is about what other people think of you, not what you think of yourself."
The good news is that your product can be built and launched in the way and direction you desire.
To achieve that, we will follow three simple Cs for personal branding that include: clarity, creativity and consistency.
C- Clarity - can be the most important step in building your product because here you have laid the cornerstone of your future product. After we know how others see us, we need to define our basic values and find the answer to the question: who are we, what do we believe, what are our values ..? At this stage you should be completely honest with yourself because the only sign that goes with your principles of health and philosophy is possible and always true.
Then we must make it clear: Who are we? What is our job? What is our field of work? What is our priority right now? What would we like to do next? What would we like to separate from the package? It is important here to describe the USP (unique marketing proposal), one thing, just one thing, that makes us different from others, that makes us different.
I was in close contact with Muhammad Yunus, Founder of Grameen Bank in Bangladesh and the inventor of small and small prizes, before he became the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. At a conference in Paris, he introduced me to a long discussion on how to define his USP.
Yunus is a doctor of economics and graduated from one of the world's most prestigious schools. However, it alone was not enough to achieve success. Economics and business science cover a very wide area so he had to choose a particular technology. He decided to make a career in the field of economic development.
After that, as medical doctors or lawyers, architects and other professionals, he has to explain his minor actions. He chose the field of poverty as a global object and something he had grown up with; something his country had been struggling with for years.
Within that USP event, something unique must be defined. He realized that the economic ideas of the day did not affect the lives of the poor in his area.
On closer inspection, he learned that more than 99% of all developed businesses in the world fall under the category of so-called small and medium enterprises, even 92% of all business accounts called microenterprises average only two people.
Through research in his own country and abroad, he has found that the biggest problem the poor face is the lack of access to financial resources to start, care for and expand their business. Commercial banks with available resources had no response to that niche market; therefore, a completely different approach was needed.
It began as a temptation that turned into a global movement. It was 40 years ago that Yunus borrowed $ 27 from his pocket from a group of poor women who made furniture for the fort. All 42 women, without exception, repay the loan, simultaneously earning extra money for their families. Yunus learned that a small loan, almost symbolic, can restore dignity and encourage people to focus on their lives.

Offline
Here we are talking about promotion to the real world, not the physical world. Do you remember the story of Gandhi from the beginning of this chapter? The basic message is that you should live your product every day every minute because that way you can reach others.
Look perfect - People tend to look more. Some researchers have found that people make a big impression on you in the first four seconds. Every day before leaving home ask yourself: What clothes, watch, phone, and pendant do I wear?
How well dressed are you and what message are you sending about your appearance?
You will never get a second chance to make a first impression.
All the successful people I know pay close attention to their appearance and try to look their best in every situation. They leave nothing to chance. You never know, maybe today when you have little hope, you will accidentally hit someone you want to meet for a long time and who is important to your success. I have made some great contacts who later helped me a lot in my work, at airports.
It often amazes me how people dress casually in this situation, considering that almost all successful people travel a lot, that they have to wait long hours at airports because flights are often delayed and leave schedules that give you a good chance of making contact with someone who, under normal circumstances, does not have time. to shake hands, not to mention talking to you.
To look perfect, being among the well-dressed and well-dressed people in the area will boost your self-esteem, show the outside world a message of satisfaction, pride, positive energy and success, making your communication easier or, at least help post a picture of your product and product.
My purpose here is not to give fashion tips but to emphasize the following: If you aim to be successful and known and known for your success, you should follow the basic rules in your business line.
Your appearance should match your work. Therefore, if you belong to the business world, your dress should be modest. Suitable colors for a man's suit are dark blue and gray; wear tight shirts and ties without high colors and patterns; wear these that match the overall image you want to communicate with other people.Mothers should wear business suits with a skirt of the right length, perhaps a scarf that compliments the suit; less is better, less jewelry and less color.
Use only fragrant and dignified perfumes. Choose your shoes carefully and make sure they stay polished and shiny.
Hidden, quality accessories (a watch, a mobile phone, a computer, a wallet) mean a lot and can show that you are paying attention to important details.
Hair styles should be conservative and should always be charged; look in the mirror and ask how you would like others to see you and how your appearance fits into your product.
Just one more tip: when you buy clothes, spend twice as much, buy more than half as much.
Go for quality over quantity. Follow the dress styles of successful people, especially those who inspire you, and you will not make a mistake.
Conferences and conferences
Try to find the next year when conferences or seminars are in your market niche and plans for when and where.
Go to those events, apply for them in advance and contact the organizer and offer to participate as a speaker in one of the panel discussions or to participate in the organization. However, actively participate, ask questions and comment on topics that interest you and your areas of interest. Prepare well in advance, look like someone who is very familiar with what the speaker is talking about and soon the news will be spread about you and your product will be known and seen in the middle of a circle of people is important to you.
Newsletters and media
Contact a professional journal and media. Introduce editors and journalists. Offer to write a text on a topic that should be known. As in meetings and conferences, do not expect to be paid for that in the first place; payment will come later, once you have built your own product where the price cannot be stated, and when the only thing that matters will be your response to their invitation. Start with smaller, lesser-known magazines. Submit your article and your CV made infrequently to other influential newspapers, expressing your readiness to write or comment alike in their newspapers, at a time and place that suits them. Persevere and the calls will come again with each new success, your product is more visible and people are talking about you in various circles, without you even knowing it.
You continue to work on your promotion and suddenly you become the product you want to be or the product you wish to buy for yourself.
C - Consistency No product made overnight. Product development is a long-term investment that brings good potential. In your life you can change the companies, jobs and countries you work in, and your product will always go with you, even before you.
Building a strong and consistent product is a time-consuming process that requires patience, but above all it requires consistency in everything you do, talk about, read, and visit. Your own brand should always reflect your true personality, in other words, you should live by your brand.
Your office, work room, books you have on the shelves, your car drive, the hotels you live in, promising to give, every part of your life should be personal to your product.
Consistency is a trademark of the world's largest commodities, let it be a trademark of your product and, of that famous stock "I" in a stock exchange that will require more people because of its real value of what is impossible to determine the price.
Verdi wrote his masterpiece AIDA. Nowadays, many marketing professionals use the name of that art form as a summary of a variety of things.
I think it would be best to use that summary at the end of this chapter about branding as a category of steps you should follow to make others accept your brand, that is, to see you the way you want to look.
A - Attention (first, take people's attention)
Getting Started (Take Action, Work, Advertise Your New Product)
D - Desire (from others a burning desire to see and talk about your product)
A - Action (finally, get ready to take action when your new product is visible, attractive, respected and too good to be ignored).
